Buckeyes Strike Again: Five-Star DL Marcus Fakatou Commits to Ohio State
Ohio State continues to build one of the most dominant recruiting classes in the nation, and the Buckeyes have added another major piece to their future defensive front. Five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou from Sierra Canyon has officially committed to Ohio State, giving the Buckeyes another elite talent in the 2027 class.
The commitment is another huge victory for defensive line coach Larry Johnson, whose reputation for developing NFL-caliber talent continues to attract some of the nation's best defensive prospects. With Fakatou now joining highly regarded prospect DJ Jacobs, Ohio State is assembling what could become one of the most feared defensive line groups in the country.
Standing out for his combination of size, strength, and athleticism, Fakatou has been one of the fastest-rising defensive players in the 2027 class. His ability to disrupt offenses, collapse the pocket, and dominate at the line of scrimmage makes him a perfect fit for Ohio State's aggressive defensive scheme.
The Buckeyes have long been known as "DLU" (Defensive Line University), producing stars who have gone on to excel at both the college and professional levels. From the Bosa brothers to Chase Young and many others, Ohio State's defensive line tradition remains one of the strongest in college football.
Adding Marcus Fakatou alongside DJ Jacobs gives the Buckeyes two elite building blocks for the future. The pair has the potential to become one of the most dangerous defensive duos in college football, creating excitement among Ohio State fans about what lies ahead.
As recruiting momentum continues to build, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the future of the trenches in Columbus looks incredibly bright. Under Larry Johnson's guidance, the Buckeyes are once again proving that elite defensive linemen see Ohio State as the destination to develop, compete, and chase championships.
DLU remains alive and well in Columbus and the future looks scary good for the Buckeyes.
