Latrell Wrightsell Jr Signs With Charlotte Hornets: Alabama Guard Lands Exhibit 10 Deal Ahead of Summer League
Latrell Wrightsell Jr. is staying in the NBA picture. The former Alabama guard has agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Charlotte Hornets, according to Rod Boone, putting him on track for both Summer League action and an invite to training camp this fall.
The move continues a relationship that started before draft night. Charlotte brought Wrightsell in for a pre-draft workout alongside several other prospects, and the front office clearly liked enough of what they saw to bring him into the fold once the draft came and went without his name being called. Exhibit 10 deals are a well-worn path for college standouts trying to force their way onto an NBA roster, and they come with a built-in incentive: if he's later converted to a G League assignment, he can collect a bonus on top of it.
For Wrightsell, the opportunity is about fit as much as anything else. Charlotte is in the middle of a youth movement, leaning on shooting and table-setting guards to round out a backcourt that's still figuring out its long-term identity. A combo guard with his scoring instincts gets a real runway to show what he can do, first in Summer League minutes and then in front of the staff during camp.
Nothing is guaranteed from here. Exhibit 10 contracts are short on security and long on opportunity, and the roster math in Charlotte will ultimately decide how far this goes. But for a player looking for his foot in the door, a team that already showed interest before the draft is about as good a landing spot as he could ask for.
Roll Tide.
